Rita Cooper

Rita trained as a teacher, where her main subjects were dance and drama.  She began working in primary schools and became a headteacher in 1990, where she took every opportunity to work with the children on school productions.

In 1996 she started a Saturday drama school, offering classes in dance, drama and singing. When ill health caused her very reluctantly to give up full time work, the theatre school continued, expanding to Thursday and Friday evenings and all day Saturday.

In 1999 Theatre Club Kids relocated to Borehamwood, where it continues under Rita’s management.

As well as working with Theatre Club Kids, Rita also prepares children for theatre auditions and has succeeding in placing children in “Les MIserables” “Oliver” and “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” in The West End.  Her main love, however, is in producing the many children’s shows, which are a feature of Theatre Club Kids.
